State Road 206 Railroad Crossing Repairs

Project Description

The railroad crossing on State Road (S.R.) 206, between I-95 and U.S. 1 in St. Johns County, is scheduled to be replaced and will close the road for four days starting next weekend, according to Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

The closure is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, and be completed by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, barring any unforeseen conditions including rainy weather.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured north at I-95 to S.R. 207, north to S.R. 312, east to U.S. 1 and south back to S.R. 206. Westbound motorists will use the same detour in the opposite direction.

Message signs are scheduled to be in place by July 23 to warn of the closure and 15-mile detour. Signs will also be placed along the route to direct motorists.

Florida East Coast Railway has hired Gulf Stream Engineering, Inc. of Hialeah to replace the old crossing.
